TOWN CLERK – DENTON, NC:  The Town of Denton, a community of 1,600 population set among the beautiful Uhwarrie Mountains in southern Davidson County, is advertising for the approaching vacancy of the Town Clerk position.  The current Town Clerk, after 25 years of service, is retiring effective February 1, 2017.  Thus, the Town is seeking to hire a qualified individual, up to three months in advance of the Town Clerk’s retirement date, to train under the current Town Clerk until the February 1st retirement date.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  attend all meetings of the Town Board; prepare meeting agendas and minutes; custodian of Town records and ordinances; handles accounts receivable and payable, payroll, purchasing, insurance and associated reports; and performs other work as required for the Town Board and Town Manager.  Must be proficient in business office and financial computer skills.  Associate or technical degree in business, financial or administrative professional preferred or combination of education and experience in government, business or relevant administrative office operation.  Attendance required at two regular monthly evening meetings and occasionally a special meeting.  NC Driver’s License and Notary Public Commission are required.  Able to obtain NC Certified Municipal Clerk certification within reasonable period after hire date.  Background check and drug test required.  Salary range $35,000-$50,000 with starting salary of applicant depending on education and experience.  Excellent benefits.  Applications may be obtained by emailing:  dentontm@triad.rr.com or calling 336-859-3082.  The signed application should be mailed to Denton Town Manager, P.O.
